Refrigerator Repair – Replacing the Fresh Food Door Gasket (Frigidaire Part # 241872513)

Hi, it’s Ervin from winnipeg-appliance-repair.ca. we’re going to explain you how to change the fresh food door gasket on your refrigerator. It’s a really easy job. The only tool you may need is a stiff putty knife. Let me explain you how we do it.

To do this repairWe’re simply going to open the refrigerator door fully and then, with the putty knife we just go in between the inner door liner and the gasket. Just peel back the edge of that gasket a bit, put your putty knife in there and just gently pry that out.Once you’ve got it started, you should be able to just work your way around the gasket, pulling it completely out of that website that is formed in the inner door panel. Once you have that gasket completely removed, we’ll discard it. Before we install the new gasket, we’ll examine that little website all around that inner door liner and verify that there’s no dirt or debris in there. If there is, we’ll need to wash that out and dry it thoroughly. Remember to check across the bottom.

Once we’re satisfied that it’s clean, we’ll take our new gasketWe’re just going to lay it in place, we just lift it up over that liner, center it up. You’ll note on the back of it that there is a ridge that will fit into that website. We want to make sure that we have that centered properly and then, just press it into place.Make sure the outer lip on that gasket lays flat on the metal of the door panel, compress it firmly, make sure it’s completely seated in that website.

Once we have it completely in place, the next thing we should do is just check along the edge of that frame on the refrigerator itself and make sure that that metal surface is clean and has no sticky debris on there. That will help prolong the life of the gasket. Your repair is complete. I told you it was an easy job.

Thanks for reading and good luck with your repair.
